Get Involved

Are you passionate about making a difference at Northeastern? Whether you're interested in improving student life, shaping university policies, or representing your peers, the Student Government Association offers a range of opportunities for you to get involved! If you're not sure where to start, or want more advice on what to join, please email the Vice President for External Affairs (sgaexternalaffairs@northeastern.edu).

Join an SGA Committee

SGA Committees meet weekly to focus on specific aspects of the student experience, working on projects that directly impact the university community. These committees are open to all undergraduate students on the Boston Campus—no experience or long-term commitment required! Simply show up, share your ideas, and contribute to meaningful change.

Serve on an SGA Board

SGA Boards play a crucial role in allocating funds and making judicial decisions within the university. Meetings are scheduled as needed by the chair and typically involve a select group of members confirmed through an application process. If you’re interested in being part of a decision-making body, consider applying for a position on one of our Boards.

Participate in an SGA Working Group

Working Groups are designed to maintain a steady flow of feedback between students and specific administrative offices or departments at Northeastern. These groups consist of a representative selection of the undergraduate student body and operate through an application process. If you’re eager to influence university policy directly, this might be the perfect fit for you.

Become a Senator

Any full-time undergraduate student can become a Senator through our nomination process. Senators represent either an academic college or a recognized student organization, and there’s no limit to the number of Senators who can serve at any given time. All you need to do is gather 30 signatures from your constituents, and you’re on your way to representing your peers in SGA.

Explore Leadership Opportunities

SGA offers dozens of leadership positions open to all full-time undergraduates studying on the Boston Campus. No experience is necessary, and first-year students are especially encouraged to apply. If you’re ready to step up and lead, we have a place for you!
