Student Involvement

The Student Involvement division represents the consensus of the Northeastern student organization community, and serves as the Student Government Association’s official liaison to student organizations. This includes guiding new organizations through the official recognition process, managing constitutions, creating policy, mediating conflict within and between organizations, building collaborations, and various other support services.

Student Organization Operations Committee

The Student Organization Operations Committee (SOOC) is an open-membership forum through which students can advocate for support services and resources most needed by clubs. SOOC also works to help student leaders understand and access existing resources and build connections both within the Boston campus and across the Northeastern global network.

Our Boards

Student Organization Governance Board

The Student Organization Governance (SOG) Board is tasked with the managing and approving of constitutions for all SGA recognized organizations. All new organizations and all organizations that amend their constitutions must have their amendments approved by the board. The SOG Board ensures that their constitution complies with the Student Organization Policy Manual (SOP) and all other Northeastern policies. The management and updating of SOP as well as all other policies governing student organizations falls under the jurisdiction of the SOG Board.

Student Organization Compliance Board

The Student Organization Compliance (SOC) Board works to foster a culture of understanding and compliance with policies within the Northeastern student organization community and student organization leadership by investigating complaints and feedback, mediating conflict, and administering sanctions as-needed. The SOC Board maintains a simple and transparent student organization investigation framework to fairly evaluate organization compliance and help organizations get back on track.

Student Organization Approvals Board

The Student Organization Approvals Board (SOAB) oversees the new organization recognition and approval process. SOAB members serve as liaisons to student leaders navigating the new club process, provide feedback to new student orgs on their constitutions and organizational plans, and vote on advancing clubs through the recognition process.
