  • How to nominate someone:

    • Verbal nomination (in Senate):

      • Can be made in Senate day of elections opening

      • A last call for verbal nominations will be made by the Speaker before each election begins

    • Email (“mail-in nominations”):

      • A voting member of Senate must email sgasenatespeaker@northeastern.edu AND sgaelections@northeastern.edu nominating the candidate and CC-ing another voting member of Senate who wishes to second the nomination. The second must reply by confirming within 12 hours and the nominee must then accept the nomination via email within 24 hours of the initial nomination email.

    • *As long as you are a voting member of Senate, you are able to nominate yourself. However, you must still CC someone to second your nomination and must accept the second.

How do elections work?

  • Each candidate will give a 5 minute speech and have up to 10 minutes for Q&A from the Senate

    • This can be extended if motioned by the Senate, however, it must be equally extended for each candidate running for the same role

  • Following the final candidate’s Q&A, Senate will enter Executive Session to debate candidacy. This is only open to those on the Senate roster.
