MEETING RECAP

  • Last Monday, Senate held a Working Senate! 

  • You can view the leadership addresses here.  

  • We had focus groups for Senator Elections Memo. Thank you all for the great discussion last Monday! Please reach out to the authors if you have any more questions, concerns, or ideas. They want to work with you!

  • We also approved the meeting minutes from April 13th, 2023.

  • We also had new legislation presented:

    • SR-SP-24-106 (Civic Engagement) was presented. Please reach out the the author with any questions. This will be voted on next week. 

  • Our slide deck is accessible here. This has all the info we went over and contacts for leadership!

 SGA ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  • Engagement hours are now being collected for all Senators. For March you must get at least 3 engagement hours. View more details about what counts for engagement hours on the slides. 

    • The form to submit engagement hours is linked here and at the bottom of this email. As a reminder do not submit committee/board/senate attendance. 

  • Annual Budgets: A message for all undergraduate organizations that annual budgets are now live on engage. Budgets are due at midnight on March 26th. There is also a NEW manual! Please find al information on the finance board website: http://neufinanceboard.com

  • Fill out this Google Form regarding your experience with SGA’s internal communication! We need everyone’s input to make meaningful changes.

  • It’s Wellness Week! Come learn about narcan and how to administer it in Curry 336 on Wednesday at 6pm! Then, Join Jamira for the first of four sessions focusing on mental resilience for Black students in the JDOAAI on Thursday at 6:30pm!

  • Join SGA at Northeastern’s annual Relay For Life event next Friday, March 22, in Matthews Arena from 6pm-6am. Relay is an all-night event to signify the fight that cancer patients undergo. It is a great way to get involved with the Northeastern community while making a difference for those in need and supporting a worthy cause. There will be plenty of games, performances, and other activities to participate in for the entire 12 hours, but it isn't required that you stay the whole time. UPCOMING MEETINGS 

  • The next Senate meeting will be MARCH 18th at 6:30 pm in Curry 333. This is a Legislative Senate where we will hear presentations for two RGs and will debate and vote on SR-SP-24-106 (Civic Engagement).  You must fill out the attendance form at the bottom of this email if you cannot attend. 

    • The Senate calendar can be accessed here. Please reach out to Speaker Donoghue (Sgasenatespeaker@northeastern.edu) if you would like to see anything added to the Senate calendar. This includes but is not limited to, legislation, events, and guest speakers!
